The Harris Project
Steel, Cable, Rubber Tubing, and Canvas Heating Duct
27 ft x 42 ft 4 inches x 15 ft
2011
The Harris Project was completed at Franconia Sculpture Park (FSP website) during a 2 month residency for which i received the Open-Studio Artist Fellowship Grant. The sculpture is comprised of materials donated from the abandoned manufacturing company Harris Machinery in Minneapolis, MN. The Harris Machinery Company made many industrial products over the span of nearly 100 years, including military canvass heating ducts used in the Korean War. The main visual element of the canvass heating ducts amplifies the twisted and torn movement of the splayed industrial organ.
